Our approach to photography, research and AI

Images

Every destination photograph on Amazingiceland.is was taken by Icelandic professional photographer Kristján Logason.

No generative AI has been used to create or alter the photographs. Nothing has been artificially added to or removed from the scenes. The photographs are developed using normal professional adjustments to elements such as exposure, colour, contrast and tonal balance, while preserving what was present when the image was made.

The photographs therefore represent real places, real conditions and real moments experienced in Iceland.

Text and editorial responsibility

The destination articles on Amazingiceland.is have been written with the assistance of AI under the close direction and editorial control of Kristján Logason.

Kristján brings more than 40 years of travelling and photographing Iceland to the project, together with extensive experience as a professional guide. His first-hand knowledge forms an important part of every destination page.

The writing process normally includes:

  1. Selecting the destination and defining what the article needs to cover.
  2. Preparing an initial draft according to the editorial standards established for Amazing Iceland.
  3. Checking factual claims, historical accounts, practical information and possible inconsistencies.
  4. Comparing the draft with published material, official sources and Kristján’s first-hand knowledge.
  5. Identifying questions that require clarification or additional local knowledge.
  6. Revising the article based on Kristján’s answers, corrections and observations.
  7. Completing a final editorial review for accuracy, usefulness and clear English.

Kristján reviews and approves every destination article before publication. He remains responsible for the final content.

Research and sources

Research for Amazing Iceland draws on books, maps, brochures, official information, websites, first-hand travel and decades of experience in Iceland. AI research tools, including Perplexity, Gemini, ChatGPT and Claude, may also be used to locate information, compare accounts and identify questions requiring further investigation.

This process frequently reveals conflicting information between websites and other sources. When sources disagree, preference is given to authoritative published material, official sources and reliable first-hand knowledge. If a claim cannot be supported with reasonable confidence, it is corrected, qualified or left out.

No research process is completely immune to error, particularly when historical accounts, changing access conditions and natural environments are involved. Nevertheless, every reasonable effort is made to ensure that the information on Amazing Iceland is accurate at the time of publication.

It is my hope that the information you find here will help you travel more confidently, understand the places you visit and enjoy the remarkable variety of destinations found throughout Iceland.
