We head of at our own pace and take our time taking in the power and beauty of the North.
We start at Goðafoss, the waterfall of the Gods. We drive up Bárðardalur along the glacial river Skjálfandafljót and visit Aldeyjarfoss.
We drive over to the lake Mývatn area and start at the Skútustaðir Pseudocraters and admire the beautiful landscape surrounding Lake Myvatn.
Dimmuborgir Lava Park where we see very unusual lava formations and pillars, caves and fissures. Some believe that these rock formations are Trolls that turned to stone.
We go to lunch at a local restaurant or café.
We will visit famous locations where parts of the series “Game of Thrones” was filmed like Grjótagjá cave and Höfði cape.
We will visit the geothermal area of Hverir.
We drive into the large lava field of the 1875 eruption in Askja, Ódáðahraun. We admire the amazing scenery formed by both fire and the glacial river Jökulsá á Fjöllum, the landscape is out this world. There we will visit Europe´s most powerful waterfall Dettifoss.
On the way back we can have dinner at the Cowshed restaurant, a local restaurant which specializes in courses from farm to table.
