Buggy and Lava Tunnel combo
On the 1-hour buggy tour you will cruise in your very own dune buggy through stunning landscapes; a highlands feel only a short 30-minute drive from Reykjavik city. Splashing in puddles, driving on dirt tracks and climbing hills and obstacles are only a small part of what makes this activity so amazing – the rest of it is the amazing feeling of independence you feel as you self-drive a 4×4 ATV in the safest and most comfortable way possible.
At the buggy base, you are provided with all the necessary equipment to have an enjoyable experience; coveralls, boots, balaclavas, gloves and a helmet.
In case you splash in the puddles like a child in the rain, make sure to bring an extra set of clothes with you on this tour, as you might get wet!
On the lava cave tour, you will descend into the earth of Raufarhólshellir cave. This lava tube was formed over 5000 years ago, in one of the thousands of volcanic eruptions that formed our beautiful country. Your expert cave guide will lead you along a footbridge built along the floor of the cave, making this tour suitable for practically everybody! You will learn a whole about the geology of caves and volcanic formations and maybe even some cave-related folklore! The electric lighting strewn throughout the cave will help you see the vast array of colors on the cave walls, and the glimmer of natural bacteria which lines the walls in places. During winter icicles will take the shape of stalactites and stalagmites throughout the cave, adding a certain depth to the whole experience.
At the Lava Tunnel base, you will be provided with a helmet and headlights, and during winter months you will also be equipped with crampons to put over your shoes, for an easier walking experience on the ice.
In this activity bundle you will enjoy two authentic experiences any Icelander loves!
